ESFA, in partnership with Matraville Sports High School is running a Talented Sports Program for footballers with first enrolments for Year 7 in 2012. We are now calling for formal expressions of interest in the program. We invite you to be part of a supportive, stimulating environment that promotes development on and off the sporting field.
The Talented Sports Program:
- Provides an integrated curriculum which caters for the special needs of the talented footballer
- Includes coaching at school
- Football will have a teacher mentor/coordinator appointed, who provides the link between coaches, parents and the school
- All students in the TSP will receive reports evaluating their progress in the program
Benefits of the Program
- Excellent coaching from experienced accredited coaching staff
- A minimum of two hours training per week which is integrated into the school timetable
- Providing education in nutrition, fitness, injury prevention and basic sports science along with life skills such as time management, goal setting and motivation
- Exposure to a high level of competition which can improve skill level and provide access to higher representation in football
- Development of coaching and refereeing qualifications
- Strength and conditioning program provided to assist with the physical development of TSP students
- Exposure to Elite Sporting Organisations – through ESFA the program will have links to representative clubs, the University of NSW and Sydney FC
Technical Development
- Former AIS Head Coach and ex-Socceroo Steve O’Connor has expressed interest in the program and has offered advice on the program
- The program will provide an opportunity for players to develop their football in their school as well as through their representative commitments
