FFA Cup Action Commences for ESFA AAM Championship Teams From This Weekend.
With five ESFA Clubs currently in contention for the FFA Cup, Coogee United FC have the first kick off with their 3rd Round scheduled fixture against Lili Pili FC, to be played on Saturday 16th March 2019. The match will be played at 5sports Caringbah. Coogee United's last major match up with Lilli Pilli, was in the 2018 Football NSW Champion of Champions semi final fixture played at the same ground, with Coogee defeating Lili Pili 2 nil. Coogee United progressed to be crowned 2018 Champion of Champions.
Slightly further away from home, still travelling south, Randwick City FC will be playing Wollongong Olympic FC at PCYC North Wollongong on Sunday 24th March 2019, with a perfectly timed 3:00pm kick off. Wollongong Olympic compete in the Illawarra Premier League and made it to Round 5 of the FFA Cup in 2018 when they were comprehensively stopped by Apia, with RCFC winning through to Round 4. It is bound to be a tough match, albeit one well worth making the trip to watch with Randwick having had a highly successful pre-season campaign.
Close to home is Pagewood Botany FC who have drawn Terrigal United FC in their Round 3 fixture. The new amenities building at Jellicoe Park will be on prime display for a 7:00pm kick off on Wednesday 26th March 2019. In 2018 Terrigal United campaigned through to Round 5 of the FFA Cup. Let’s see however, how they match up with the football of the Eastern Suburbs. Pagewood too have had a successful pre-season and are looking to consolidate that.
We are still awaiting the fixture dates and times for when Waverley Old Boys take on Bankstown United in their Round 3 fixture. In 2018 both Waverley and Bankstown reached Round 4 of the Cup so we look forward to what should be an excellent match. With Waverley’s new coach at the helm, they will be looking to optimise their pre-season success. Stay tuned for further details.
Sydney CBD face Arncliffe Aurora in their Round 3 fixture. With both clubs having something to prove after bowing out in Round 3 of the FFA Cup in 2018, this too promises to be a significant match. Sydney CBD also have had positive pre-season results and look to take that into the FFA Cup. Travel south once again, to Seymour Shaw, Miranda on Saturday 30th March for a 4:00pm kick off.
We wish all our Clubs competing the best of luck and look forward to bringing you more information of success throughout the campaign.
Get out and watch some excellent football and support your fellow Association Clubs.
