On Sunday 14th October 2018, the inaugural Celebrity 6-A-Side featuring former Sydney Swans legend Adam Goodes was held at Waverley Synthetic, to raise funds for GO Foundation.

GO Foundation was founded in 2014 by Adam and former club mate Michael O’Loughlin, focusing on education for Indigenous youth, providing scholarships from kindergarten through to university in public and independent schools.

Sunday 27th October 2019 and the second Celebrity 6-A-Side was held on a thankfully mildly warm Spring day.

ESFA requested our referees get involved and were pleased to advise the organisers at Waverley Old Boys FC, our referees were proud to offer their services gratis, ensuring all proceeds from the day were provided to the charity. The referees did an exceptional job on the day in the spirit of the occasion.

We wish to thank and acknowledge our referees who were able to attend the day:

Vlad Alter
Simon Jeans
Erik Lander
Amber Morris
Mat Pinder
Lex Van Santen
Ian Walter
Mutu Yolbulan

We appreciate all referees who generously offered their time, proving football is a community sport for all within it.

As well as our referees, in attendance, was recently appointed Sydney FC Fan Development Officer for ESFA, Alice Kreisler who provided the youngsters with some kicking practice. It would be prudent to add the young lad who won the points for the day and the subsequent prize of tickets for four people, to any Sydney FC home game, should be signed up immediately as he was the future of football! What a kick. We thank all those who enjoyed the experience and had some fun honing their target skills including the adults!

Travelling with ESFA, Sydney FC and the referees, was the A-League 2018/2019 Champions Trophy which proved a hit particularly with our referees, who rarely, dare we say it, get to hold up any trophies!

The Go Foundation with the assistance of Waverley Old Boys FC, have raised more funds than 2018 in their continuation to further the education of Indigenous youth.

ESFA thank Waverley Old Boys and Go Foundation for the invitation to attend the day and be part of the event. We commend all those involved in a voluntary role.

Post Script: If ESFA can provide any assistance to any of our Clubs raising all funds from the event for any Charities, please let us know.
